S A L V E and Co- workers of Mother Teresa’s missionaries of charity
St Francis church Kenilworth. Formed October 1974
Salve at St Francis is a group of volunteers who endeavour to help those in need locally, nationally and internationally by re-cycling and fundraising.
Regular donations are sent to Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity (Birmingham) and to Father James Duma in Funsi (Ghana) for educational projects. Our donation of £300 last year paid for a new classroom roof and sewing machines to provide girls with an independent source of income when they leave home /school.
In recent years we have also supported Acorns, The Waverley Day centre, Jesse’s Fund, The Catholic Fellowship, Warwickshire Young Carers, the Aylesford Unit at Warwick Hospital, Leamington Night Shelter and Zoe’s place Baby Hospice among others. Until recently we collected household goods and clothes to supply Leamington Christian Mission. Since the closure of the mission we have continued to recycle clothes to be sent to Africa and we are always looking for new opportunities and outlets.
Funds are raised through social events in the Parish, most notably our coffee morning for St Patrick’s Day, our plant, produce and pudding stalls and the sale of books and bric a brac.
Meetings are held six times a year, usually January, March, May, July, September and November and new members are always welcome. For further information see the noticeboard in the narthex.
Save everything
Aid those in need
Love one another
Value all things
Ease hardship regardless of race or creed
