The Catenian Association was started in 1908 and is a UK based and international association of Catholic men and their families. Overseas, our Circles are in Australia, Malta, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe, whose members particularly need our prayers at the present time.
Our aim is ‘To strengthen familylife through friendship and faith’ and our activities include fundraising for local, national or international charities. This, our centenary year, The Association is supporting CAFOD in their clean water projects in South Africa, especially Zimbabwe , under the banner 'Water, Life and Hope'. Closer to home, the Association provides bursaries to young (late teens/early twenties) Catholics to help fund a gap year project which will provide benefits for others.
The Association is formed of a number of ‘Circles’. The Kenilworth Catenian Circle consists of some 45 members and meets one evening each month, currently at The Chesford Grange Hotel, for prayer, a meal and friendship. Our ladies are invited several times a year. This, together with visits to other Circles, is our ‘framework’ (or core) activity and in addition we arrange other activities which can be more easily enjoyed by our families such as theatre visits, river trip, walks/rambles, informal lunch meetings, gliding and 20Twenty cricket. In our centenary year there are a number of one-off major events such as Masses at Lichfield Cathedral and York Minster and a series of Centenary Lectures held both in the UK and in our international Provinces.
