Friends of the Holy Land (Kenilworth Group)
In 2008 with the approval of Father Kevin, the Kenilworth Group of the FHL was one of the first ‘pilot’ groups to be established in the country.
The Friends of the Holy Land is now an ecumenical National Charity based here in Kenilworth with its office at Farmer Ward Road. Our website is www.friendsoftheholyland.org.uk
The purpose of the Parish FHL group is to raise awareness of the many difficulties facing the Christian Communities in the Holy Land and to take positive action that will ensure on-going support for those most in need. There are now a number of groups around the country.
Our Parish group meets at 8.15pm, each third Thursday of the month, in the Parish Centre. Starting with a prayer and a reading from the scriptures, the meeting continues informally. We receive ‘news’ from the National FHL which informs us of any projects needing support and also the successes of distributed funds. This then leads us into discussion for our next fund raising event.
Past activities have been very generously supported by the Parishioners, and have enabled funds to be forwarded to specific agreed projects in Parishes, communities, schools, and the FHL Family Support fund.
Further support is given by promoting the sales of Olive Wood products which are made by small Christian family businesses in Bethlehem.
Together we do make a difference.
New members welcome.
