10 May 2026: Sixth Sunday of Easter Year A

Picture
"Alleluia! Christ is risen!"

Dear parishioners,
Welcome to all visitors here with us this weekend. It’s good to be together. As we continue reflecting on the special Year of St Francis I am pleased to share with you a couple of updates.

San Damiano Crucifix
We will be placing a replica of the San Damiano Crucifix in the Parish Centre. The Cross is famous in the life of St Francis because while praying in the chapel he heard a voice coming from the crucifix saying: "Francis, go and repair my house." Let’s pray that the Lord will speak to many people through his Cross in our Parish Centre.

New Icons being commissioned
I am delighted to announce that two new icons have been commissioned for our parish depicting St. Francis and St. Clare. In the sacred tradition of iconography, these images are being 'written' specifically for our parish by a local icon writer. Once completed, they will be permanently placed in the day chapel, where they will serve as a focus for prayer and reflection. I hope to invite members of the icon group to share with us about their work, along with their beautiful designs.

If you would like to contribute towards the icons and the Crucifix, there are a number of options. Please send in any  offerings by an envelope to the clergy or through the presbytery door, or by using the QR code (on this newsletter) or the contactless card machine.
With my prayers and thanks, Fr Ryan

Mass changes this week. Please note that Mass on Tuesday 12 May is at 9.30am to enable us to attend the Deanery meeting. With the Holy Day on Thursday, there will be no Mass on Wednesday this week.

Ascension Day Masses - on Thursday 14 May we will celebrate the Solemnity of the Ascension with Masses at 10am and 6pm in St Francis Church, and an 11am Mass at Crackley Hall School, which is also open to the public. All Masses fulfil the holiday of obligation today.

WALKING TOGETHER - UNFOLDING GOD‘S PLAN  in our Parish
Following Archbishop Bernard’s Pastoral Letter, we are invited to reflect on how we can continue to work together build a vibrant community of faith, joyful in our service of God and neighbour.  All are welcome to share in this important process.

Over the past year we have met to discuss and put into place plans to bring to life the Diocesan Vision Statement and how we continue to move forward as a parish - deepening our faith (formation and spiritual growth), sharing our faith (evangelisation), celebrating our faith (worship and liturgy) and witnessing our faith (social action) - click here for a summary.
