5th April 2026: Solemnity of the Resurrection, Year A
"Alleluia! Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!"
Dear parishioners,
Happy Easter! Today, we witness the ultimate victory of hope over despair, life over death. Easter is a season of profound hope, reminding us that no matter the challenges we face, the stone has been rolled away and the tomb is empty. Pope Leo shared a moving prayer on Palm Sunday from Bishop Tonino Bello:
“Holy Mary, woman of the third day, grant us the certainty that, in spite of all, death will no longer hold sway over us; that the injustices of peoples are numbered; that the flashes of war are fading into the twilight; that the sufferings of the poor are breathing their last. And grant, finally, that the tears of all the victims of violence and pain will soon be dried up like frost beneath the spring sun.”
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who works tirelessly behind the scenes to prepare our parish for Easter and throughout the year. To the cleaners, altar servers, readers, Eucharistic ministers, sacristans, those who look after the linen. To the music teams and organist, for the stunning floral arrangements and decorations, stewards, counters, youth group, children’s liturgy leaders, the gardeners, our schools, the pastoral council, the finance committee, those who look after our property and parish centre, to all parish groups and volunteers. To each of you—whether you are a lifelong parishioner or visiting us for the first time—please know that you are a vital part of this parish. Easter is a time to think about new life and participation.
Easter is a time to think about new life and participation.Whether you’ve been sitting in the pews for years, are just beginning to wonder about faith —this invitation is for you. If you have ever felt a nudge in your heart toward Baptism or becoming Catholic, but hesitated because you felt ‘not ready’, ‘not holy enough’ or worried about the process, I want to share a simple truth with you: God’s door is always open, and so is ours. The most important thing to know about seeking Baptism in the Catholic Church is that there is no rejection here. Faith is a gift and a journey, not a test.
We welcome back Bishop Richard who will be celebrating Masses for us over the weekend 11/12 April.
Young adult Easter social (18-40 age group) on Tuesday 14 April at 7pm at the Anchor Inn, Leek Wootton. Come along for a drink and meet with other young Catholics. This is a joint initiative with Mary Immaculate parish, Warwick.

WALKING TOGETHER - UNFOLDING GOD‘S PLAN in our Parish
Following Archbishop Bernard’s Pastoral Letter, we are invited to reflect on how we can continue to work together build a vibrant community of faith, joyful in our service of God and neighbour. All are welcome to share in this important process.
Over the past year we have met to discuss and put into place plans to bring to life the Diocesan Vision Statement and how we continue to move forward as a parish - deepening our faith (formation and spiritual growth), sharing our faith (evangelisation), celebrating our faith (worship and liturgy) and witnessing our faith (social action) - click here for a summary.
